Charlie Parr grew up in the town of Austin, MN. Both of his parents worked union jobs in the Hormel Spam factory in town. Charlie is a self-taught guitarist and banjoist. Charlieâ€™s earliest musical influences came listening to his fatherâ€™s records of Leadbelly, Woody Guthrie, Lightninâ€™ Hopkins and Charley Patton.
Parr strives for a historic or vintage feel to his music and prefers to record in non traditional setting such as garages, stores and basements. Charlie is analog through and through and releases most of his records on vinyl as well as digital. Charlieâ€™s discography is extensive.
